[Book Review] How Will You Measure Your Life

Riveting, realistic and thought-provoking are the first three words that come to my mind as I review the book – How Will you Measure Your Life by Clayton M. Christensen, co-authored by James Allworth and Karen Dillon.

A bit about the author –

Clayton M. Christensen is the best-selling author of ten books, including his seminal work The Innovator’s Dilemma (1997), which received the Global Business Book Award for the best business book of the year. He is a professor at Harvard Business School where he teaches an elective course he designed called “Building and Sustaining a Successful Enterprise”

In ‘How Will You Measure Your Life’ Christensen picks up lessons form real-life business examples and explains various nuances of success and failure. Can success be achieved by following a set pattern? How do high-performers balance between instincts and taking a necessary detour? The references made in the book will compel the reader to retrospect and rethink their strategies.

The book appeals to not only aspiring young professionals but also established professionals. For young professionals, the book is a source of guidance enabling them to refine their thought-process regarding ambitions, family and leading about leading a fulfilling life.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about how businesses cope with adverse situations; sometimes successfully making it through and sometimes not.

Crisp and conversational, the language is easy to follow and the flow of writing makes the reader engrossed. I’d recommend everyone who grapples with the concept of thinking-from-multiple-angles to read this book.

“The book encapsulates Christensen’s best advice to keep high achievers
from being disrupted in their own lives….Provocative but reassuring:
Peter Drucker meets Mitch Albom.” – Bloomsberg Businessweek

P.S. – I will be back this weekend with my posts for the BlogchatterA2Z Challenge!
